Tour Itinerary
Day 1-2: Guwahati & Kaziranga – Rhino Country
Arrive in Guwahati and visit the Kamakhya Temple atop Nilachal Hill. Drive to Kaziranga National Park. Day 2: UNESCO-listed Kaziranga – home to the world's largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses. Take an elephant back safari at dawn through the tall elephant grass, spotting rhinos, elephants, and wild buffalo.
Day 3-4: Majuli River Island & Jorhat
Ferry across the Brahmaputra to Majuli, the world's largest river island and a center of Assamese Vaishnavite culture. Visit the Satra monasteries, watch mask-makers and potters at work. Day 4: Explore local tribal villages and participate in a community meal. Return to Jorhat and overnight.
Day 5-6: Cherrapunji & Meghalaya's Wonders
Drive to Shillong, Meghalaya's capital. Day 5: Visit the iconic Double Decker Living Root Bridge at Nongriat – a 45-minute trek through dense forest. Swim in the crystal-clear natural pools. Day 6: Explore Mawsmai Caves and Nohkalikai Falls (India's tallest plunge waterfall) near Cherrapunji, the wettest place on earth.
Day 7: Dawki – The Clear River Border
Drive to Dawki on the Bangladesh border. Boat ride on the Umngot River – the water is so transparent that boats appear to float on glass. Visit the Mawlynnong village (Asia's cleanest village) with its hanging root bridges and sky walk. Return to Shillong for overnight.
Day 8-9: Sikkim – Gangtok & Nathula Pass
Fly or drive to Gangtok, Sikkim's capital. Day 8: Visit Rumtek Monastery, Tashi Viewpoint, and the Institute of Tibetology. Day 9: Permit-required trip to Nathula Pass (14,140 ft) on the historic Silk Road, standing at the India-China border. Views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Return to Gangtok and evening departure.
