Day 1: Arrival in Budapest
Transfer to your hotel in the heart of Pest. In the evening, take a walk along the illuminated Danube promenade and marvel at the lit-up Parliament reflected in the river. Discover a 'Ruin Bar' – Budapest's unique bars built inside crumbling Jewish Quarter buildings filled with eclectic décor.
Day 2: Buda Castle Hill & Fisherman's Bastion
Take the funicular up to Buda Castle Hill. Explore the Hungarian National Gallery inside the Royal Palace. Walk to the neo-Gothic Fisherman's Bastion for the city's most iconic panoramic view of the Parliament and Danube bridges. Visit the Matthias Church with its stunning Moorish-influenced interior. Evening Danube river cruise with dinner.
Day 3: Pest City Tour & Parliament
Full-day Pest exploration: Visit the magnificent Hungarian Parliament Building (book guided tour in advance), the stunning St. Stephen's Basilica (climb the dome for views), and Andrássy Avenue – Budapest's Champs-Élysées lined with Neo-Renaissance mansions. Explore the Hungarian State Opera House.
Day 4: Thermal Bath Day
Budapest has the most thermal bath capacity of any city in the world! Spend a morning soaking in the Széchenyi Thermal Bath (inside a grand Neo-Baroque palace in City Park). Alternatively, the art nouveau Gellért Baths for couples. Afternoon: stroll through Heroes' Square and the Museum of Fine Arts.
Day 5: Day Trip – Danube Bend
Scenic day trip along the Danube Bend to Visegrád Citadel, Esztergom Basilica (Hungary's largest church), and the charming arts town of Szentendre with its Serbian Orthodox churches and artist workshops. Return to Budapest for a farewell dinner at a traditional Hungarian restaurant featuring Goulash and Langos.
Day 6: Departure
Final Kürtőskalács (chimney cake) and Langos for breakfast. Pick up some Pálinka (Hungarian fruit brandy), paprika, and Tokaj wine from the Central Market Hall. Transfer to Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport for your flight home.
