Day 1-2: Astana – The City of the Future
Arrive in Nur-Sultan (Astana), Kazakhstan's stunning futuristic capital. Day 1: Settle in and explore the iconic Baiterek Tower (the 'golden egg on a tree' monument). Day 2: Visit the Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center (the world's largest tent structure), Hazrat Sultan Mosque, the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation pyramid, and the unique 'EXPO 2017' energy complex.
Day 3: Flight to Almaty – City of Apples
Fly to Almaty, the country's cultural capital. Explore the ornate Zenkov Cathedral built entirely without nails. Visit Panfilov Park and the Central State Museum. In the evening, stroll through the Green Bazaar bursting with dried fruits, nuts, and Kazakh handicrafts – the perfect place to pick up souvenirs.
Day 4: Charyn Canyon – The Grand Canyon of Central Asia
Full-day excursion to Charyn Canyon National Park (200km from Almaty). Walk through the dramatic 'Valley of Castles', where 150-million-year-old red rock formations rise like ancient ruins from the earth. Picnic lunch by the Charyn River. Return via the Ash Tree Grove.
Day 5: Big Almaty Lake & Medeu
Morning drive up to Big Almaty Lake – a stunning glacial lake of shimmering turquoise waters set against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks. Return via the world's highest-altitude skating rink at Medeu. Afternoon: hike or cable car to Shymbulak Ski Resort for panoramic mountain views.
Day 6: Kolsai Lakes Excursion (Optional Day Trip)
Optional full-day trip to the Kolsai Lakes – Kazakhstan's 'Pearls of the Tian Shan'. Three turquoise lakes nestled in the spruce forests offer surreal beauty. Alternatively, enjoy a leisurely day in Almaty, visiting the State Museum of Musical Instruments, the art gallery, and local restaurants for traditional Beshbarmak (mutton and noodles).
Day 7: Departure
Last morning in Central Asia. Shop for Kazakh feltwear, wolf-head ornaments, and eagle hunting artwork at the Aport Bazaar. Transfer to Almaty International Airport for your flight back home, carrying the memory of endless golden steppes and modern marvels.
